Alexandria Condos: Greenhouse

Greenhouse is a condo community comprising nearly 300 units built in 1975. Located on Holmes Run Parkway near the intersection of Van Dorn Street and Duke Street, Greenhouse is convenient to major commuting routes, such as I-395 and the Beltway. It’s also about two miles from the Van Dorn metro station.

With a walk score of 74, Greenhouse is rated “very walkable.” Nearly a dozen restaurants are within a half mile of residents’ front doors, including local favorites Cafe Aurora and Shooter McGee’s. Three coffee shops are within a half mile of the neighborhood, and a dozen grocery stores are within a mile. Landmark Mall, BJ’s, and Van Dorn Plaza are also nearby for your shopping convenience.

Currently, two units are actively listed for sale in Greenhouse, according to MRIS, our local MLS. One is a two-bed, two-bath unit with an asking price of $269,000. It’s been on the market for 103 days. The other unit for sale has one bedroom and one bathroom. It’s been on the market for 101 days with an asking price of $178,000. Neither unit is a short sale or a foreclosure.

Two units are currently under contract in Greenhouse. One is a two-bed, two-bath unit that was on the market for 49 days with an asking price of $269,000. The other unit has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and is a short sale. It was on the market for 43 days before going under contract with an asking price of $299,000.

In the past year, ten homes have changed hands in Greenhouse. They sat on the market for an average of 68 days before selling with an average price of $239,650. Of the ten units that sold, two were short sales and none were foreclosures.
