Farney is a community of about 45 rowhouses. The oldest home in the neighborhood dates back to 1795, with more houses being added throughout the 1800s and early 1900s. Located in the eastern part of Old Town, Farney is convenient to the George Washington Memorial Parkway and Reagan National Airport. It’s also about one mile from the King Street metro station, making it a popular destination for commuters.
With a walk score of 98, Farney is considered a “walker’s paradise.” More than a dozen restaurants are less than a quarter mile from residents’ front doors, including local favorites Murphy’s Grand Irish Pub and Las Tapas. Residents are also afforded all the shopping and entertainment that Old Town has to offer. Four parks are just blocks away, as is the Alexandria Marina and it’s access to the Old Town-National Harbor ferry.
The neighborhood is popular, and currently no homes are actively listed for sale in Farney, according to MRIS, our local MLS. One home is currently under contract. It’s a three-bed, 1.5-bath end unit that was built in 1870. It was on the market for 35 days before going under contract and has an asking price of $595,000.
In the past year, just one home has changed hands in Farney. It was a three-bed, two-bath end unit built in 1800. It sat on the market for 123 days before selling for $820,000.
