Alexandria Neighborhoods: Burges Square

November 1, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Burges Square is a community of 30 townhouses. Some of the homes were built in the 19th century, while others are newer and were built in the mid-1980s. Located in Old Town near the intersection of Duke Street and Patrick Street (Route 1), Burges Square is a popular destination and is convenient to major commuting routes and is a little more than one mile from the Braddock Street metro station.

With a walk score of 97, Burges Square is considered a “walker’s paradise.” Dozens of restaurants are within a half mile of residents’ front doors, including local favorites Geranio and Morrison House. Need your caffeine fix in the morning? A dozen coffee shops are within a half mile, as well as more than a dozen grocery stores.

The neighborhood is popular, and currently no homes are actively listed for sale or are under contract in Burges Square, according to MRIS, our local MLS.

In the past year, just one home in Burges Square changed hands. It had three bedrooms, two full baths, and two half baths. The home sold for $675,000 and was on the market for just nine days before selling.
